The Gesellschaft für Virologie at a first glance:
The Society for Virology (Gesellschaft für Virologie; GfV) promotes the development of Virology as a research area in the life sciences, medicine and veterinary medicine. Founded in 1990, the society is the largest virological society in Europe with about 1.100 members, mainly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also further countries.
The GfV comprises various boards and committees, specifically

The GfV commissions are dedicated to pertinent practices in virology and subject areas in medicine as well as public health. Most of the commissions are organized in close collaboration with the Deutsche Vereinigung zur Bekämpfung der Viruskrankheiten (DVV) http://www.dvv-ev.de/.
We host a general assembly during the annual scientific meeting of the GfV http://www.g-f-v.org/node/588.
