The section Cellular Virology at the Institute of Molecular Virology, University of Münster, Germany offers several positions for postdoctoral research appointments or PhD students. The section Cellular Virology, headed by Dr. Mario Schelhaas is embedded within a vibrant research environment and part of various research networks (e.g. the Cluster of Excellence ‚Cells-in-Motion’, DFG research group ‚ViroCarb’, and Infect-ERA network HPV-MOTIVA).

Our research focuses on investigating host-pathogen interactions with a strong emphasis on cell biological mechanisms. The successful applicant(s) will join an exciting ERC-funded research programme in a dynamic working group of 10 researchers to investigate the molecular mechanisms on how small DNA tumor viruses infect cells and how cellular aging affects infection. The positions are financed by the European Research Council for 3 years with the possibility of extension.

Required qualifications:

  • • MSc in Biology/Cell Biology/Virology or similar
  • • strong background in cell biology or virology, live cell imaging, superresolution microscopy, and/or molecular imaging;

We offer:

  • an international, young and dynamic group;
