Within the framework of the excellence cluster RESIST (‘Resolving Infection Susceptibility’) we invite applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work in the group of T. Krey, Institute of Virology, Hannover Medical School (Germany). The joint project involving TWINCORE and Hannover Medical School aims on the design of a B cell vaccine against the Hepatitis C virus based on our previous structural and functional characterization of neutralization epitopes within the HCV glycoproteins (e.g. Krey et al., PLoS Path 2013; Meola et al., J Virol, 2015; Vasiliauskaite et al., mBio, 2017).
This position is available from April 2019 for an initial period of 3 years and can be extended after successful review of the project in 2022.

We:
• Are interested in developing an efficient Hepatitis C virus vaccine
• Are structural biologists with a special interest in immune profiling of human antibody responses
• Use a wide range of methodologies including but not limited to protein biochemistry, structural biology (X-ray crystallography and electron microscopy), immunogen design and next-generation sequencing (NGS)
• Offer state-of-the-art equipment in protein purification and crystallization
• Provide an exciting and stimulating scientific environment at Hannover Medical School
• Have access to
       - in-house X-ray sources
       - an on-campus FACS facility with single-cell sequencing instrumentation
       - excellent biophysical instrumentation (Creoptix Wave Delta, SEC-MALLS, DLS, ITC, AUC)

You:
• Are interested in developing an efficient Hepatitis C virus vaccine
• Have experience in protein purification and structural biology techniques (preferably X-ray crystallography) as well as antibody biology
• Enjoy working both on your own and as part of an international team
• Are convinced that antibody techniques hold a great promise for the future
• Like to visit international conferences and present your data
• Are a creative and enthusiastic individual committed to solve problems
