11.10.2010 - 13.10.2010: 3rd International Symposium on Animal Health in the 21st Century
Dear colleagues,
it is my pleasure to invite you to the 3rd International Symposium on Animal Health in the 21st Century to be organized from October 11-13, 2010, by the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut, Federal Research Institute for Animal Health in the city of Greifswald and on the Isle of Riems, the location of the FLI headquarters and oldest virus research facility worldwide. This symposium has been renamed to reflect the extended focus of research of the FLI, but follows the previous two successful international symposia on animal disease control in the 21st century.
We have invited internationally renowned keynote speakers from abroad and from the FLI to cover all aspects of animal health from infectious diseases to welfare and genetics. Thus, we look forward to interesting presentations as a basis for fruitful discussions and exchange of information. The symposium should be of interest for scientists and policy makers alike. An evening reception barbecue style will be held on October 11 at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut on the isle of Riems.
The ‘3rd International Symposium on Animal Health in the 21st Century’ follows the celebration of the centenary of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut and the presentation to the public of our new laboratory and animal facilites up to biosafety level 4. This will take place on Sunday, October 10, 2010 exactly 100 years after Friedrich Loeffler started his work on the Isle of Riems, when access to the institute will be allowed for visitors. Attendees of the symposium are very welcome to participate also in this event.
We look forward to welcoming you in Greifswald and on the Isle of Riems and wish you a safe and enjoyable journey.
With best wishes

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas C. Mettenleiter
